How VCW Helped Girls in Mozambique Find Jobs to Improve the World

This case study examines how the Value Creation Wheel (VCW) framework was used to empower young women in Mozambique to develop social entrepreneurship projects and improve their career prospects.

Overview:

The Girl Move Foundation partnered with the VCW Center to integrate the VCW framework into its Leadership Academy program in Nampula, Mozambique. This program aimed to equip young Mozambican women with the skills and tools to design and implement social entrepreneurship projects, ultimately improving their career opportunities and contributing to social development.

Application and Process:

23 participants applied the VCW framework to develop personal projects addressing social challenges. The process involved:

  • Identifying skills and strengths: Participants analyzed their own capabilities.

  • Generating ideas and criteria: They brainstormed solutions and developed criteria to evaluate them.

  • Defining market segments and targets: They identified potential beneficiaries and target groups.

  • Creating a value proposition: They developed clear and compelling value propositions for their projects.

  • Developing a go-to-market strategy: They created action plans for implementing their solutions.

  • Phases of the VCW: The participants went through all the phases of the VCW, from diagnostic, ideation, filtering, value creation funnel, and implementation.
